Darker Than Black was a great, entertaining watch.

By far the strongest part of the show was its characters. Everyone of them was unique in their own way, and everyone contributed to the show in some way. Hei was definitely one of the most badass characters in an anime. Yin was great in her own way, not to mention the plethora of other contractors. In fact, he would probably the single reason why I want another season of this show, despite the chaotic ending.

However, that also brings me to probably the biggest weakness of the show, and that is the storyline. Darker Than Black tried something different with its two episode arcs, each arc contributing a little to the overall story, but the end result proved to be a little confusing at times. It was a great ride, but the techno-babble proved confusing and detrimental to the overall watch. Things would probably make a lot more sense on a re-watch, but I think I need to sit back and let it soak through first.

Animation was smooth as expected, and the fighting scenes were kickass.

Overall, I recommend this show to anyone who loves action/supernatural. It was a great series and probably one of my favorites to come out in a while. Here’s to a second season!?
